Shelly A. Perkins, Associate

Experience

Ms. Perkins serves as an attorney in the Firm's transaction group and concentrates on non-profit organizations and the Federal Communications Commission. Ms. Perkins also assists attorneys in many other practice areas.

Prior to embarking on her legal career, Ms. Perkins enjoyed an extensive career in politics. She worked for Congressman J.C. Watts, Jr. for many years in both his Norman, Oklahoma and in his Washington, D.C. offices and also served in numerous capacities in Congressman Watts' re-election campaigns for the 1998 and 2000 election cycles, including as his Scheduler, Office Manager and Finance Director. While Finance Director, Ms. Perkins was responsible for managing all fundraising events and coordinating direct mail.

Following her work with Congressman Watts, Ms. Perkins ran Jeff Cloud's statewide campaign for Corporation Commissioner. After his election victory, Ms. Perkins served as Commissioner Cloud's Administrative Aide.

After working for Commissioner Cloud, Ms. Perkins became Executive Director of a non-profit organization, a position she held until joining DeBee Gilchrist. During that time, she started a political consulting firm where she managed and raised money for numerous state and federal campaigns.
